Abstract

1,184,610. Aerials. C.I.T. COMPAGNIE INDUSTRIELLE DES TELECOMMUNICATIONS. 6 Nov., 1967 [4 Nov., 1966; 20 Sept., 1967], No.50295/67. Heading H4A. A dual waveband aerial device has a length (A + B + C) of substantially (# 1 /4), where # 1 is the wavelength corresponding to the middle of the lower frequency band, and comprises a vertically disposed section 17 of whip aerial type whose lower end is fixed in the top of a cylindrical metal casing 20 having a length (B) of (# 2 /2), where # 2 is the wavelength corresponding to the middle of the higher frequency band. A co-axial feeder 23 enters from a ground plane 15 into the bottom of the casing 20 and penetrates to its centre, where it is connected to a horizontally disposed dipole 18, 18<SP>1</SP> for operation at the wavelength # 2 . A balun is thereby provided, the dipole halves 18, 18<SP>1</SP> being fed symmetrically. An upper frequency transmitter 11 is connected to the inner and outer conductors of the feeder 23 through a transformer 12, and a lower frequency transmitter 13 is connected to the outer conductor of the feeder 23 and to the ground plane 15 through a transformer 14. The transmitters 11, 13 may be operated simultaneously.
