Abstract

118,447. Dalton, G. Aug. 28, 1917. Reservoir pens.-In self-filling reservoir pens of the type in which the piston-rod carrying the valve regulating the supply of ink to the nib is detachably connected to the piston, the rear portion d<1> of the valve d is tapered to engage in a corresponding recess g' in the piston g, which, during the filling operation is disconnected automatically from the piston-rod e just prior to the completion of the return stroke; and a vacuum is formed behind the piston during this stroke, so that it is returned to the rear end of the reservoir c by the pressure of the incoming ink. According to the Provisional Specification, a screw or bayonet-joint connexion may be used between the piston and piston-rod.
