Abstract

1,184,470. Shearing; stamping. S. N. HOARE. 5 May, 1967 [6 May, 1966], No. 20270/66. Headings B3Q and B3W. A portable tool unit comprises a fluidpressure actuated ram 1 and a tool housing 5 attached to the body of the ram but leaving at least the major part of the body unobstructed, the tool comprising pivotally coupled jawcarrying members 6, 7, the member 6 being fixed to the housing and the member 7 being operatively connected to a plunger 11 of the ram so as to be pivoted thereby, and only the jaw portions 6a, 7a of the tool projecting from the housing. The tail portion 7b is slotted to receive an extension 13 screwed to the plunger 11 and is retained between shoulders 14 and a cross-pin 15. A control member 16 is connected to the shank 17 of a fluid-pressure supply valve, a supply line being connected to the ram body at 18. In another embodiment, (not shown), for two-hand manipulation a control trigger is carried on a flat sided lower extension of the ram body. Jaw portions for shearing, pinching, clenching or rivetting may be provided.
