Abstract

1,184,250. Plug-boards. AMP Inc. 22 Oct., 1968 [18 Nov., 1967], No. 52543/67. Heading H2E. A contact arrangement comprises a housing of insulating material containing a plurality of contacts 26 aligned with apertures 29 on one side of a housing and resilient sealing means closing the apertures. As shown, the sealing means comprises a resilient plastics diaphragm 25 which is slit at areas 30 to facilitate the insertion of pins 31; however a diaphragm formed with areas of less thickness in the area of apertures 29 may be used. In another embodiment (Fig. 1, not shown) pins (10) simply pierce an unslit rubber diaphragm (15). On removal of the pins the slits or ruptured diaphragm parts close up to reseal apertures 29. Each aperture 29 may be provided with a separate sealing diaphragm.
