Abstract

1,182,739. Bolts and nails. HILTI A.G. 25 June, 1968 [21 July, 1967], No. 30345/68. Heading F2H. A fastener 1 such as a pin, nail or bolt comprises a shank 3 having a conical bore 4a which merges into a bore 4b. The head 2 of the fastener is threaded and when the fastener is driven into a piece of material by a poweractuated driving tool, the end of the shank expands to secure the fastener. The shank has a circular or octagonal &c. cross-section and the bore 4b may extend to the upper surface of the fastener. Modifications are described in which the shank is provided with a shoulder, and in which the end of the shank has a cutting edge. Embodiments are also described in which the end of the shank is divided by notches.
