Abstract

1,181,897. Supply systems for flash lamps. PHILIPS ELECTRONIC & ASSOCIATED INDUSTRIES Ltd. 27 Sept., 1967 [30 Sept., 1966], No. 43939/67. Heading H2H. [Also in Division G2] In a supply system for firing flash-bulbs 8-12 of the kind requiring a high voltage of the order of 1000 volts or more for their ignition, operation of the shutter release causes switch 6 to close so discharging capacitor 3 through the low-voltage primary winding 4A and inducing a high-voltage pulse in the secondary winding 4B. The battery voltage may be 6 volts. Winding 4A may comprise 8 turns and winding 4B may comprise 8000 turns. The resistor 2 may have a value of 850 ohms. Closure of switch 6 results in the generation of a pulse of approximately 3000 volts in the secondary winding, the circuit of this winding being completed through connector S which is closed when the bulbholder 7 is inserted in place in the flash unit.
