Abstract

1,181,852. Trowelling machines. HAMILTON FLOAT & TROWEL Ltd. 2 June, 1967 [3 June, 1966], No. 25642/67. Heading E1G. In a rotary trowelling machine comprising three or more horizontal blades 41 tiltable about radial axes at the lower end of a vertical motor-driven shaft 13, each blade 41 is detachably mounted on a shaft 37 whose inner end engages a plain bearing 36 in a hub 33 and whose outer end is supported by a saddle bearing 44 on an overlying arm of a spider 42. In order to provide a remote control for the tilt of the blades, each shaft 37 has an offset arm 46 carrying a screw 47 whose head engages a cam plate 48 which is axially adjusted through a thrust bearing 50 and linkwork 52-58. The shaft 13 is driven through worm gearing in a gearbox 10 carrying the motor 12, the upper bearing for the worm wheel being carried by an axially-adjustable circular plate 24. As shown, the plate 24 is screw threaded and locked in adjusted position by a clamp bolt 29 and slit 28. The machine has a fixed or rotatable guard ring 66.
