Abstract

Revolving drum and loose internal edge-runners. -In an apparatus for use in separating metallic particles from materials such as refuse, ashes, and skimmings, the material is fed through a conical drum A in a direction opposite to that of a cur. rent of air, which enters at a high velocity through a trunnion C and discharges the refuse through a trunnion B, the metal particles collecting in pockets R in the drum. The drum is formed with grooves J, K, L, M to receive balls A<3>. The grooves are in communication through ports J<1>, K<1>, M<1>, and the groove M communicates through ports P' with the pockets R, which are formed in a chamber P on the drum. The material is raised by the pockets and then falls through the current of air. The chamber is pro. vided with discharging-doors. Baffles, such as S are provided for distributing the current of air. The material is fed to the drum by a spout N which is carried by the drum and works in a hopper O.
