Abstract

1,181,696. Shelving. C. REITH. 3 Aug., 1967 [5 Aug., 1966], No. 35765/67. Heading A4B. A post for supporting shelf brackets comprises a pair of channels 1, 2 disposed side-by-side, each channel having unequal width flanges 3, 4, the wider flanges 3 being disposed adjacent one another and being interconnected inwardly of their free edges by a strip 5 formed with a series of vertically spaced openings for selective engagement by the brackets. Screw holes 6 facilitate wall mounting and panels 7 may overlie the channels 1, 2. In a modification, Fig. 6, further channels are formed by rearward extensions of the flanges 3, 4 so that brackets may be supported on two opposite sides of the post. An intermediate flange 18 is optionally included. The post of Fig. 1 may seat in a reinforcing channel (9, Fig. 7) secured to the wall. Alternatively, Fig. 10, the post may be slidably engaged in, and supported by, a split tube 19.
