Abstract

1,181,087. Electric switches &c. ASSOCIATED ELECTRICAL INDUSTRIES Ltd. 20 Nov., 1968 [14 Dec., 1967], No. 56869/67. Heading H1N. A high voltage switching arrangement includes a chain of series connected vacuum switches 1, 2, 3, 4 with a chain of series circuits in parallel with the chain of vacuum switches and each series circuit includes at least one capacitive device and one resistive device, each such circuit being connected in parallel with at least one vacuum switch. Preferably the circuits are the same for any series of vaccum switches although the drawing shows four alternative arrangements S1, S2, S3, S4, for the relative positions of resistors R1, R2, R2a, R3, R4 and capacitors C1, C2, C3, C3a, C4 relative to terminals T1, T2. The resistors may be non-linear.
