Abstract
1,180,099. Coated asbestos fabrics. VYZKUMNY USTAV PLETARSKY. 21 Dec., 1967, No. 58249/67. Heading B2E. A flame-resistant sheet is produced by coating a stitch-bonded fabric containing asbestos fibres with a mixture of an aqueous dispersion of a vinylidene chloride polymer and a heatreflecting filler. The fabric is produced from asbestos fibres or mixtures of asbestos fibres and natural or synthetic fibres, e.g. asbestos and a binding component of viscose stable fibres stitch bonded by polyamide filament yarn. The aqueous dispersion may be applied by means of a doctor blade or a knife and rubber belt combination. The filler agent may include mica powder or aluminium powder. A first coating may include the vinylidene chloride polymer and both mica and aluminium powder and a second coating may be applied which comprises the vinylidene chloride polymer and aluminium powder. The mixture may be in the form of a paste and the coated fabric is dried and calendered.
