Abstract
1,179,396. Thin film circuit devices. PLESSEY CO. Ltd. 25 April, 1967 [28 April, 1966], No. 18583/66. Heading H1R. A thin film of electrically conductive material on a substrate is divided up into separate conductive areas by means of a mechanical scribing action. The areas 1, 2, 3 may be disposed as shown in Fig. 1, for connection respectively to three terminals of a triangular shaped flip-chip active device 6 (Fig. 2, not shown), by means of an ultra-sonic fusion process. The thin film may be of gold deposited by vapour deposition using out-of-contact masking technique. The flip-chip may be trapezoidal in shape, and is a semi-conductor formed by a planar constriction technique.
