A container 1, formed of metal foil, has a ring member 3 fixed to its rim 2 by means of a thermoplastic adhesive. The member 3 may be of paper, cardboard, aluminium or plastics coated on its underside with a polyester thermoplastic adhesive which is adhered to the rim 2 under heat, causing it to penetrate the surface irregularities of the rim. A closure disc may be sealed to the member 3.
