Abstract

A method of erecting a building comprises supporting a prefabricated grill 3 across floor bearing supports 2 to provide a platform on which workmen may stand during other construction work, installing services by extending pipes 5, 11 or the like through the grill, then closing the grill openings by panels 6 which rest upon shoulders formed on the ribs of the grill and then screeding over the whole area of grill ribs, panels and bearing supports. The top screed may or may not contain light steel mesh reinforcement. The grill may be of lightweight concrete. The floor of a room may be formed by a single grill, or several grills bolted together. The grill may be bonded to the supports 2 through the medium of connectors 8 projecting from the supports.
