Abstract

[Also in Division F4] An immersion cooler suitable for cooling milk or like liquids comprises a tank (not shown) which supports a sleeve-shaped cooling body 1 in the bore of which is arranged a pump rotor 4 driven by a motor (not shown) by a shaft 3 with a lower enlargement 5, the enlargement having a coaxial stationary sleeve 8 thereabout. Radial guiding of the shaft is effected by flow of a portion of the liquid through a space 11 between the enlargement and sleeve. The remainder of the liquid is pumped out through openings 12 in the sleeve 8 which has a radially outwardly-extending annular flange 9 by means of which the sleeve is detachably secured to the cooling body leaving a central opening 10 for flow of liquid thereinto. In a modification, the sleeve has radial wings (13) extending across the space between the sleeve and cooling body to prevent rotation or circulation of the liquid passing through the openings 12.
