To indicate when a brake lining of a disc brake has worn down to a predetermined thickness, an electrically conductive stud 14, surrounded by plastics insulating material 16, is mounted in a bore in the lining support plate 2 so that when the lining reaches the predetermined thickness, electrical contact is established between the stud 14 and the brake disc 6 to close an electrical circuit to energize a warning device.
