Abstract

1,178,509. Calcium sugar phosphate compositions. COLONIAL SUGAR REFINING CO. Ltd. 30 May, 1968 [8 June, 1967], No. 25859/68. Heading C2C. A process for recovering a composition containing calcium sugar phosphates and inorganic calcium phosphate from an aqueous sugar phosphorylation reaction liquor containing calcium sugar phosphates, inorganic calcium phosphate and calcium chloride comprises dehydrating said liquor and obtaining a finely divided solid material containing said phosphates and calcium chloride, separating calcium chloride from said material by leaching with a suitable solvent and withdrawing said phosphates-containing leached material. The resulting composition contains less than 0À5% by weight calcium chloride. A preferred method of dehydration is by spray-drying with air. Suitable solvents include methanol, ethanol, butanol and mixtures thereof, ethanol being preferred.
