Abstract

[Also in Division G3] A power hammer comprising a tup 15 has a manual control lever 1 which, when moved clockwise, engages a plunger 2 to pressurize an hydraulic telemotor link 3, 8, 9 to move a spool 11 leftwards to vent the space 12 above a double-acting piston coupled to main spool 13. The latter rises with the piston to supply air to the space above the tup causing the latter to move downwards, anvil 19 being simultaneously driven upwards. Lever 18 provides a follow-up action by allowing plunger 17 to move leftwards to depressurize the telemotor link thereby restoring spools 11, 13 to their null positions. The inward movement of the tup is thus proportional to the movement of lever 1. To retract the tup, the lever 1 is moved counter-clockwise to engage a plunger which pressurizes telemotor link 20, 26 to move spool 28 to vent the space below the piston of the main spool 13. The downward movement of the latter reverses the connections to the tup piston and the tup rises. In this case, the lever 18 actuates spool 22 to depressurize link 20, 26.
