Abstract

1,177,456. Automatic speed control. SIMONSEN & MUSTAD A.S. Jan.30, 1968 [Jan. 31, 1967], No.4758/68. Heading G3R. An electric motor 1 has its speed regulated by means of a tachometer generator 2 whose output is rectified by rectifier 3 which is connected to a pre-amplifier 5 through a reference element 4 of the Zener type. The amplifier 5 effects a substantial amplification of the D.C. component of the input signal, whilst the A.C. component is subjected to no amplification or very small amplification. The output of the pre-amplifier 5 is applied to amplifier 6 which, in the case of field control, produces an output current only when the input voltage exceeds a threshold value. When the system is used for armature control, the amplifier 6 provides an output only when the input voltage is below the threshold level. The section 4 comprises a Zener diode in series with three ordinary diodes which compensate for temperature drift. The preamplifier 5 comprises transistors Q1, Q2, associated with a wave-shaping capacitor C1, and a capacitor C2 providing a negative feedback path for the A.C. components of the input voltage. The amplifier 6 has transistors Q3, Q4, Q5 in cascade, the output of the transistor Q5 being supplied to the control winding of the motor.
