Abstract
1422236 Automatic control of speed INTERNATIONAL STANDARD ELECTRIC CORP 22 Feb 1973 [25 Feb 1972] 8697/73 Heading G3R A speed-control circuit for a D.C. motor M has a regulating transistor T4 in series with the motor and a complementary transistor arrangement T2, T3 whose conduction is varied by the charge present on capacitor C2 forming part of an input circuit responsive to the output voltage of a tachometer driven by the motor and including a potential divider arrangement feeding a charge controlling transistor whose emitter circuit includes the capacitor C2. In generation the Zener diode Z provides a constant voltage across the potential divider chain P, R2, R3 and the potentiometer P is adjusted as that Tl just does not conduct. As the motor starts the voltage output of the tachogenerator is added to the potential divider chain and Tl conducts to charge capacitor C2 so that control transistor T2 is made more conductive and transistors T3, T4 less conductive until the speed stabilizes at a value determined by the position of the slider of potentiometer P.
