Abstract

1,177,201. Hydrofining. ESSO RESEARCH & ENG. CO. 24 Jan., 1968 [1 Feb., 1967], No. 3687/68. Heading C5E. In a process for the preparation of stable steam-cracked naphtha a major amount of a petroleum fraction boiling in the range of 300‹ to 800‹ F. is blended with a minor amount of unstable steam cracked naphtha, the blend preheated and passed over a hydrofining catalyst at hydrofining conditions in the presence of a hydrogen-containing gas and a stable steam cracked naphtha fraction recovered from the hydrofining blend. The petroleum fraction may be a gas oil and may form from 55 to 95% of the blend. The hydrofining catalyst may be an oxide or sulphide of cobalt, molybdenum, iron, nickel or tungsten or mixtures thereof supported on alumina, silica-alumina, bauxite or magnesia. ,
