Abstract

1,177,060. Automatic circuit breakers. WESTINGHOUSE ELECTRIC CORP. 22 May, 1968 [23 June, 1967], No. 24379/68. Heading H1N. An automatic circuit breaker of the kind having a pivoted dolly 63 projecting through an opening in a moulded insulating casing 7 is provided with a sealing member which moves with the dolly and is biased into engagement with the casing so as to prevent egress of arc products through the opening. The sealing member is formed integrally with the dolly 63 and has a cylindrical surface 61. The dolly 63 has pins 55 which pivot in slots 57 in the moulded casing, the dolly being biased to the upper end of the slot by the overcentre operating spring 71 so as to urge surface 61 into engagement with corresponding surfaces 67 of the casing. In a modification (Fig. 7) a resilient flap 119 is pivoted to the dolly and is driven by the pressure of the arc gases against an edge 131 of the casing to help seal the opening.
