A milling saw 5 used for machining slots 3, has a guide comprising a pair of spaced stationary annular or arcuate guide ribs 15 disposed adjacent the roots of the teeth 7. The ribs 15 form part of a stationary housing 11, 12 which shrouds the major part of the blade periphery. A coolant inlet connection 17 is provided. (For Figures see next column.)
