Apparatus for spraying two substances to mix after projection comprises a first nozzle 2 for projecting a first substance and a second nozzle 6 for spraying a second substance, the second nozzle being mounted on an element 3 carried by the first nozzle and movable in a direction parallel to the axis of the first nozzle, and the second nozzle being inclined to the axis of the first nozzle. The element may be a ring having an interior thread cooperating with an exterior thread 16 on the first nozzle, and may serve as a manifold fed from hose 15 and supplying a plurality of second nozzles 6. In the production of fire-proof coatings mineral wool and cement may be supplied to nozzle 2 and water to nozzles 6.
