Abstract
1,174,476. Rolling; making sheets. NIPPON KOKAN K.K. 27 Oct., 1967 [28 Oct., 1966], No. 48967/67. Headings B3A and B3M. Low carbon steel strip is rolled, using a roughened roll in the final pass, to produce a surface roughness on the strip which is at least three times greater in the cross direction than in the longitudinal direction of rolling. The roll can be ground to a suitable roughness, and the resulting strip roughness in the cross direction preferably lies between 2 Á and 8 Á. The final pass can be in a continuous, reversible, or temper rolling process.
