Abstract

1,172,726. Burner quarts. IMPERIAL CHEMICAL INDUSTRIES Ltd. 20 March, 1968 [21 March, 1967], No. 13248/67. Heading F4B. A burner assembly for use in a suspended-roof furnace incorporates an interchangeable refractory quarl 24 preferably made of refractory concrete. The burner assembly comprises a wind-box 10 and a burner casing 16 and has injection means (not shown) for fuel, air and steam. The refractory quarl 24 is supported in a metal casing 22 by anchors 26, the casing 22 being removably held within the burner casing 16 by means of bayonet-type slots 20 which co-operate with lugs (18, Fig. 2) formed on the inside of the burner casing. A flange 12 of the wind-box 10 rests on bricks 14 forming part of the furnace roof.
