[Also in Divisions B8 and Fl] An apparatus for discharging granular or viscous material from a container 1 comprises nozzles 9, 10, 11, 12 through which compressed air is supplied to the container, the nozzles being downwardly inclined and each including a plate member normal to the nozzle axis and provided with a circular arrangement of through channels positioned obliquely to the plate, whereby a helical stream of air is obtained from the nozzle mouth. The stream of air is constricted by provision of an annular member secured to the end of the nozzle. A disc of flexible material is attached centrally to the plate member to prevent flow of material into the nozzle on the creation of back pressure in the container. The four nozzles positioned at 90‹ to one another around the container are each at a different height, two being positioned in a cylindrical portion 4 and two in a lower conical portion of the container. Material is fed to the container through a closable funnel 6 and is discharged through an orifice in the base of the container.
