Abstract
1,172,374. Forming ground anchors; pile anchors. ASSOCIATED TUNNELLING CO. Ltd. 12 Dec., 1967 [27 Oct., 1966], No. 48220/ 66. Headings E1B and E1H. A method of forming a ground anchor for a tension member comprises, forming a hole in the ground, inserting in the hole the tension member having conical wedge members at its lower end, and a tube 10 which surrounds the tension member, expanding a deformable sealing member, which forms part of a pressure head carried on the lower end of tube 10, to abut the walls of the hole, and introducing grout under pressure through the tube 10, conduit 15 and aperture 23 to surround the wedge members. The sealing member is expanded by compressed air introduced through tubes 28, 29, nipples 27 and passages 26 to the annular space 25. After a 10 to 15 minutes the air pressure is relieved and the sealing member withdrawn whilst further grout is injected around the tension member.
