A roller skate 10 comprises a foot-receiving plate 11, three wheels of large diameter e.g. about 4 inches, carries an axles 19, 20, and 21, which are arranged so that two extend from one side of the platform whilst the other extends from the other side. In use the wearers shoe may be held in position by laced flexible straps 12, at the front of the platform, and strap 15 and flange 14 at the rear.
