Abstract

1,171,758. Cathode-ray tubes. GENERAL ELECTRIC CO. 28 Dec., 1966, No. 57907/66. Heading H1D. The means for mounting a deflection yoke around the cathode-ray tube of a television receiver includes, fixed to the yoke, a mounting ring having outwardly radially projecting ears, and a surrounding tapered cylindrical housing through slots in which the ears are engaged to position and align the yoke, the housing further including a portion of reduced diameter to engage the neck of the tube. The flanged mounting ring 5, having projecting ears 41, is attached to the surface 35 of the yoke 3, and supports the yoke within the tapered plastics housing 1 by the projection of the ears through the slots 13. The central tapered portion of housing 1 has cut-outs 17 to promote cooling, slots 19 extending from the cut-outs through the reduced diameter portion 11 which is clamped to the neck of the tube by ring 23, the slots 19 rendering this portion sufficiently flexible to permit its use with a variety of tube neck dimensions. Portion 11 extends part-way within the tapered section of the housing, spring fingers at its inner end (51, Fig. 2, not shown), and pieces of resilient plastics tubing 21, maintaining the yoke in position. The ring 5 may be held on the yoke by cementing, or by an interference fit.
