Abstract
1369510 Electron beam deflecting apparatus PHILIPS ELECTRONIC & ASSOCIATED INDUSTRIES Ltd 9 Sept 1971 [12 Sept 1970] 42099/71 Heading H1D In a deflection coil assembly for a colour television tube having two pairs of saddle coils between which is disposed a flared insulating body 11, Fig. 1, provided with a flange 13 at its narrow end, connecting wires 19 from the coils extend along circumferential grooves 17 in the flange to a connecting plate 21 secured to the flange. The insulating body is preferably formed in two halves joined along a plane through the axis, and the halves are each provided with a hook 23 which extends through a slot in the plate 21, so that a pair of diametrically opposed plates 21 serve to secure the halves together. A protecting ring 31 of resilient synthetic resin is preferably fitted around the edge of the flange 13 thus partly covering the grooves 17 (as shown on the right of Fig. 1) and is held in place by resilient tags (not shown). This ring may carry four radial bolts 37 which pass through axial slots in a'supporting cage (not shown), to secure the deflection unit in an axially adjustable manner; alternatively the ring may be provided with a clamping device for clamping it to the neck of the tube. The coil assembly is surrounded by a ferrite yoke ring 9.
