Abstract

1,171,668. Door holders. R. BREMICKER and M. BREMICKER [trading as ED. SCHARWACHTER]. 29 March, 1967 [31 March, 1966], No. 14359/67. Heading E2A. A door holder comprises a stay bar 10 for pivotal connection to a door at a location spaced from the hinge axis hereof, and a latch 11 for attachment to the door post adjacent the door hinge and which cooperates with the stay bar and comprises a stop 22 engageable with a detent on the stay bar and a torsion spring member 20 connected to the stop. As shown the stay bar 10 is mounted on a pivot 13 on a door post and slidably engages a web 28 of a bracket 25 mounted on a door hinged to the door post. The latch 11 comprises a rod-spring arrangement 20, 21, 22, 23, 24 located in the bracket cooperates with the stay bar such that when the door is opened a serrated roller 15 on the stay bar is engaged by the portion 22 of the spring arrangement to stress the portion 20 in torsion and to thus hold the door open. Movement of the door is limited by a head portion 17 of the stay-bar. In a modification this movement may be limited by the roller 15.
