Apparatus for selectively diverting articles from one path of travel to another path of travel comprises a pair of spaced sets of rollers 13, 14 to advance said articles against a vertical displaceable stop 49 whereupon an electric circuit is completed to selectively drive a pair of spaced endless chains 33 with rods 48 extending therebetween in a direction transverse to said one path of travel to laterally displace to either side the article to said other path of travel. Alternatively, the chains 33 are not driven and on lowering of the stop 49 the articles will continue on said one path. The stop 49 is governed by cam means 49a, 50 at the lower end thereof driven from a common drive source in synchrnization with the rollers 13, 14 and a further cam 59, 61 controlling a stop 60 situated at the entrance to the apparatus to with-hold articles until the apparatus is clear. Disposed in front of the stop 49 is a plate 62 engageable by the articles and pivotal about an axis 64 whereby the lower end may close a switch 69 and through a three-way selector switch, not shown, energize the motor 47 driving the endless chains 33. The initial rollers of a conveyer means 74 to which the articles are fed are also driven in synchronization with the rollers 13, 14.
