Abstract

1304726 Delivering sheets BUCCICONI ENG CO Inc 15 Sept 1970 [2 Oct 1969] 43929/70 Heading B8R A stacking machine comprises an overhead conveyer, e.g. endless belts 26 running past permanent or electromagnets, for advancing sheets, e.g. metal sheets, to an area where they are deposited by gravity onto a stack 11, e.g. on a lift structure 12, a back stop 35 adjacent the entrance end of the machine, side edge guide mechanisms 37, 38, each comprising a pair of depending spaced frames, e.g. depending from support beams (40) Fig. 1 (not shown), 40<SP>1</SP> which extend parallel to each other longitudinally of the machine, one of said side edge guide mechanisms 38 having its frames in the form of carriages adjustable longitudinally, e.g. along said support beams (40), 40<SP>1</SP>, and an end stop mechanism 36 longitudinally adjustable on a carriage 41 movable by power means e.g. by a motor 44, along beams (42), (42<SP>1</SP>). The beams (40), 40<SP>1</SP> may be adjusted laterally towards and away from each other by a motor driven screw member (57), so adjusting side edge guides for different sheet widths. The side guides may each have sheet engaging plates (85), Fig. 9 (not shown), reciprocated in timed relationship with sheet release by a motor (96). The electromagnets may be controlled for sheet release by a sheet sensor 34 and control mechanism.
