Abstract

1397017 Endless conveyers E BAUER 21 May 1973 24174/73 Heading B8A Elongated packs of bottles 5 from a belt conveyer 1 are accelerated by a belt conveyer 2 before they engage one side or the other 21 of deflector 6 which is thus caused to pivot and guide the packs alternately to paths 28, 29. The packs are then decelerated on a belt 12 to reduce their spacing. Guides 3, 4, 7, 8, 9 comprise spaced rails 13, 14 and the deflector 6 consists of spaced plates 15, 16. The deflector is urged towards its two limit positions by a spring 11. In Fig. 4 a pair of deflectors 50, 51 have arms 52, 53 engageable with one another and a single deflector 6 is provided, as before. Operation of the deflectors causes the packs 5 to be distributed to outlet channels 56, 57, 58. In Fig. 7 (not shown) permanent magnets (59) assist in holding the deflectors in their limit positions. In Fig. 8 (not shown) the deflector has rollers (67) along its sides to reduce friction with the packs 5. In Figs. 9, 10 (not shown) the apex of the deflector is broadened to aid guiding of the packs. In Fig. 11, deflector 41 is operated by a pneumatic or hydraulic actuator 44 which partially turns the packs as they are directed into channel 48 or channel 49. Turning is completed as the packs engage preceding packs, a stop or a retarding belt. The deflector 41 may be controlled by a photo-electric cell.
