Abstract
1,170,976. Filtering gases. OSTERREICHISCHE STICKSTOFFWERKE A.G. 2 May, 1967 [3 May, 1966], No. 20386/67. Heading BIT. Platinum metals are removed from a gas stream by passing the stream through a layer of shapes of acid resistant ceramic materials, stone or porcelain, Raschig rings, quartz or natural minerals which have been treated with alkali to increase the surface area, washed with acid and water, and dried. The layer may be covered with a perforated or slit sheet, grid or wire net. The gas stream may be the product of a catalytic exothermic chemical reaction issuing from platinium metal or alloy catalyst net resting on the shapes.
