Abstract
542,330. Recovering catalysts. BAKER & CO., Inc., and HERCULES POWDER CO. July 19, 1940, No. 11925. Convention date, Aug. 12, 1939. Addition to 519,082. [Class 1 (i)] Precious metal catalysts used in such reactions as ammonia oxidation are recovered from the reacted gases by passing these while still at a temperature above the condensation point through a conglomerate mass of electrically conductive material. Suitable masses are composed of metal wool, e.g. of stainless steel, monel, or nickel. The catalyst may be recovered from the filter mass by dissolving the latter in an acid in which the precious metal is insoluble.
