519,082. Recovering catalysts. HERCULES POWDER CO. Sept. 21, 1938, Nos, 27525 and 27526. Convention dates, Jan. 19, and Aug. 26, 1938. Drawings to Specification. [Class 1 (i)] In gas reactions using a precious metal catalyst at high temperature, e.g., ammonia oxidation, the gases leaving the converter are filtered to recover the particles of catalyst which they contain. Filtering media such as quartz wool, asbestos, porous porcelain &c. are suitable. The filter or filters should be placed as near as possible to the conversion chamber and before the point at which the reaction products condense.
