Abstract

During a reaction, esp. the oxidn. of NH3, the precious metals are detached from a catalyst, and are collected by the grid, which is made from numerous wires of known precious metals, the wires possessing different dias. which vary between 30-1000% w.r.t. each other. The wires with the largest dia. are pref. sepd. from each other in the grid by 10-200 thin wires, and the wires with the largest dia. are used both in the warp and the weft. Alternatively the wires with the largest dia. are used only in the warp, or only in the weft. Used esp. in the recovery of platinum during the mfr. of NOx and HNO3 from NH3.
