Abstract
1,170,931. Extruding. VICKERS Ltd. 20 Dec., 1967 [26 Sept., 1966], No. 42948/66. Heading B3P. A high-pressure hydrostatic extrusion vessel comprises a main part 1 detachably secured endwise to a die-holder part 2 carrying the extrusion die 10. The latter is sealed by a mitre ring 19 and a composite seal ring 20 within the bore of the main vessel part 1. Part 2 contains discs or sectors 27 of tool steel or tungsten carbide forming a conical bore 28 with a thin-walled liner 30. The outer end of this liner is sealed within a back pressure vessel part 3. A single insert (5) with a cylindrical base, Figs. 2, 5 (not shown), may be provided instead of the discs 27. The die may screw into a larger diameter adapter ring (35), Fig. 4 (not shown), which is itself screwed into the insert (5). Instead of the back pressure vessel, the die-holder may carry a distancepiece (14), Fig. 1 (not shown), at its outer end.
