Abstract

1,170,798. 5 - Aminomethyl - 10,11 - dihydro - 5H - dibenzo - [a,d] - cycloheptene derivatives. DR. A. WANDER S.A. 5 May, 1967 [10 May, 1966], No. 20979/67. Heading C2C. Novel compounds of general formula wherein R 1 is H or C 1-3 alkyl, R 2 is a C 1-3 alkyl, alkenyl or alkynyl group, R 3 is C 1-3 alkyl and one of R 4 and R 5 is H and the other is H, halogen or C 1-3 alkyl, and acid addition salts thereof are prepared by one of the following methods (a) a reactive ester of an alcohol of formula is reacted with an amine of formula H.N.R 2 R 3 ; (b) a compound of formula wherein R<SP>1</SP> is H or a C 1-3 alkyl alkenyl or alkynyl group is subjected to alkylation, alkenylation or alkynylation; or (c) a quaternary salt of formula wherein X is an acid radical is subjected to reductive cleavage, all of which may be followed by salt formation. Pharmaceutical compositions in conventional forms for enteral or parenteral administration and having anticonvulsant activity comprise an above novel compound and a carrier therefor. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specification 1,115,327.
