Abstract

1,170,771. Pneumatic conveyers. COAL INDUSTRY (PATENTS) Ltd. 13 Jan., 1967 [18 Jan., 1966], No. 2355/66. Heading B8A. [Also in Division F4] Kilns, such as brick kilns, are fired by apparatus comprising a fuel hopper 1, feed means such as a worm conveyer for feeding a regulatable quantity of solid fuel to a chamber 9, a fan 2 producing a flow of air into the chamber to entrain the fuel, and one or more conduits for guiding the entrained fuel to one or more kiln chambers 7 each conduit being divided into branches 5, 10 and entering the kiln chamber near the base thereof and having its outlet upwardly directed. Fuel may be diverted to either or both branches by a flap valve 4. In a modification the worm conveyer may be driven by a motor through a V-belt drive and the output of the fan may be regulated by a butterfly valve. In a further modification a single hopper feeds several feed regulating devices in parallel and the fan delivers on to several regulating valves.
