A drive for the rollers of a roller straightening machine includes motors 2 for driving rollers 1 with a constant torque, irrespective of their speed, and a motor 6 for driving a roller 3 at constant speed irrespective of the load on rollers 1. The tensile load on the material being straightened is thereby kept constant.
