Abstract

1,170,463. Valves. COMMONWEALTH SCIENTIFIC & INDUSTRIAL RESEARCH ORGANIZATION. 2 Oct., 1967 [4 Oct., 1966], No. 44798/67. Heading F2V. A valve closure disc 19 is provided with a comma-shaped slot 36 terminating in a groove 37 which is tapered in depth and width to provide progressive opening and closing of parts 17, 18 sealed by 0-rings 15, 16. The disc is also provided with perforations 38 which register with part 18 when the maximum area of slot 36 is aligned with part 17. The disc is rotatable by worm and sector gearing 28, 29 to provide switching between a pump and an ion source in a device for detecting leaks in mass spectrometers.
