Abstract

A closure plate for a hot blast valve consists of a hollow body with a plate-shaped partition 7 having spiral guides 10 on both sides interconnected by a control perforation 12. The coolant thus flows from the periphery to the centre while traversing one face of the partition and then back to the periphery while traversing the opposite face. The periphery of the partition may be tapered and separated from the circumferential face of the closure by a small gap.
