A feeding apparatus for supplying feed from a hopper to a number of feeding stations 20 via a screw conveyor 32 and a distributing assembly 38 has drive means 24 connected to a control system which controls the supply of a predetermined quantity of feed at prescribed time intervals and ensures that only the predetermined quantity is supplied at the prescribed time. At a predetermined time a timer 92 closes a pair of contacts in the electrical circuit to energise a motor 24 and start the supply of feed. As the control feeding pan fills up a sensing panel 60 is pushed towards an electromagnet 80 against the spring pressure of plunger 70 and this activates switch 68 which simultaneously energises the electro magnet 80 and de-energises the motor 24 thus stopping the supply of feed. The electro magnet remains energised with the timer 92 opens the contacts after a predetermined time. The plunger 70 will then swing the sensing panel 60 inwardly as the feed is eaten and the switch 68 will return to its initial position. When the contacts are closed again the motor 24 will be energised if the feed has been eaten or will be deenergised as before if the feed has not been eaten. The electro magnet 80 is bolted to the wall 54 on the box-like distributor 38. The sensing panel 60 may be replaced by a lever system which senses the weight of feed at the control station. 1,170,394. Filter for aquarium. A filter device for use in an aquarium comprises an elongated discharge nozzle 14 which houses an air discharge manifold 28 provided with air discharge apertures (29), and an underfiltrant plate 11 extending from said nozzle, with a passage therebeneath communicating with the nozzle and provided with openings 20. The underfiltrant plate 11 is maintained in position by end plates 12 having slots 23 to facilitate circulation. The aquarium tank is pro vided with a tilted cover plate 35 so that condensation runs back into the tank. In a modification the back wall of the tank constitutes the back wall of the nozzle Fig 4 (not shown).
