Abstract

1313968 Animal feeding CHORE-TIME EQUIPMENT Inc 12 July 1971 32630/71 Heading AIM [Also in Division B8] An apparatus for dispensing animal feed comprises a feed hopper 64 having a lower section 60 which communicates with at least one feed line 10 and an auger, driven by motor 32, which revolves within interconnected tubular sections 22, 24, 26 to carry the feed to feeding stations 14, via openings in the tube walls (36 Figs. 3-6 not shown) each of the sections 22, 24, 26 having its set of openings offset around the circumference of the tube with respect to openings in the other sections, such that section 22 discharges 1/3 of the material passing through it, section 24 discharges ¢ the remaining material and section 26 discharges all that is left - all the feeding stations 14 receiving equal amounts. Any number of tubular sections can be employed, the orientation of the discharge openings being selected to give equal shares. Any feeding station may be used as a control, in the ,case shown the last in the line 50 is fitted with a switch sensitive to the accumulation of feed - cutting the motor when enough has accumulated and restarting it when feed is consumed. A further switch in series with each feed line switch is mounted at the base of section 60 stopping the motor when the hopper is exhausted. A master time switch ensures that the apparatus can only be operated at preselected intervals.
