Interconnecting guard with starting-gear.-Relates to locking mechanism for the covers of lapforming rollers of textile machinery such as sliver and ribbon lap machines and Derby doublers. When the hinged cover j is closed, as shown in full lines, a projection j<2> on it enters a box m and depresses a spring rod n. A rod p connected to the lever f or other gear for operating the belt fork d can then pass through an opening in the projection j<2>, and the belt brought on to the fast pulley c'. The cover is then held locked until the rod p is withdrawn by moving the belt on to the loose pulley c. When the cover j is opened, the rod n rises and blocks the rod p, thus preventing the belt from being returned to the fast pulley until the cover is closed.
