Abstract

1,168,489. Liquid fuel systems for burners. F. A. DRIVER. 4 March, 1968 [9 Dec., 1966; 26 July, 1967 (2)], Nos. 55237/66, 34228/67 and 34229/67. Heading F4T. [Also in Division F1] In a liquid fuel supply system of an oil burner wherein a feed pump 1 is arranged to deliver fuel from a main fuel supply tank through a main filter 3 to an injection pump 2, the fuel supply line intermediate the feed pump and the injection pump is connected to an auxiliary reservoir tank or chamber 5 containing a float 12 associated with a float controlled air vent 15 which closes when the auxiliary reservoir tank or chamber is filled to a predetermined level by the fuel supplied by the feed pump whereby a fluid pressure is produced in the reservoir tank or chamber and a pressure-sensitive cut-out device 9 responsive to the fluid pressure is provided which is adapted to operate control means 27 operative to extinguish the burner in the event of a reduction or loss of the fluid pressure caused by fuel failing to reach the feed pump. As shown the cut-out device comprises a diaphragm 17 but it may comprise a piston. In a modification (not shown) the cut-out device comprises a pressure-operated electrical switch and an associated solenoid (see also Division F1.)
