Abstract

1,168,316. Microscope slides. CARL ZEISS-JENA VEB. June 9, 1967, No.26654/67. Heading G2J. A slide for carrying a liquid whose refractive index is to be determined, using an interference microscope, comprises a transparent plate 1 with a rectilinear groove of a depth in the order of 10 microns and a breadth at its surface of less than the diameter of the object field of the associated microscope, but greater than the breadth of the bottom of the groove. As shown the groove is trapezoidal in section. A formula is given in the Specification for the maximum gradient of the side faces 4, 5. In order that the interference fringes shall always be measured at the same part of the groove an index mark 10 is provided.
